Lohardaga district has a powerful history. According to the Jain literature, it is believed that once Lord Mahavir went here and stayed for a long time, this place is known as the ‘Lore-a-Yadaga’. Akhileshwar Dham is a popular religious centre. There is a temple which situated at a distance of 12 kilometres from Lohardarga town. The temple of this Dham is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The three feet idol of Lord Shiva and the copper naga are the major attraction of this temple. Mahashivratri, Purnima fair, Jagannath Rath Yatra these all are the special festivals of this shrine.
Khakparta Temple:
Khakparta Temple is one of the most popular tourist spots in Lohardaga district. It is located in small hill area, near the city of Lohardarga. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. During the time of Bengali month Shrabon, visitors always visit here to complete their worship.
Ajay Udyan:
Ajay Udyan is an amusement park of Lohardarga district. This park is derived its name from SP Ajay Kumar Singh. It is known as an ideal picnic spot. There is a small lake inside the park. The park gives so many facilities including swimming, boating, pathways for walking etc. Dhardhariya fall is situated very close to the park, which is considered as another ideal picnic spot of this district.
