# Ranipuram Hill:

Ranipuram Hill is located 750 metres above sea level on the Western Ghats and 40 kilometres from Kasaragod city centre. 40 min walking through the jungle you can reach the top. Ranipuram is famous for its trekking trails and varied vegetation evergreen shola woods, monsoon forests and grasslands. This area was formerly known as Madathumala. Ranipuram in its natural beauty is comparable to Ooty. Wild elephants can be seen wandering on the top of the mountains. Jeep services to Ranipuram are readily available from Panathady.

# Malom Wildlife Sanctuary:

Malom Wildlife Sanctuary is a great attraction near every tourist of all over the world. This Sanctuary is famous for its tropical green forest and many wild animals. This sanctuary was established to preserve the bio-diversity. One can found various types of species in this sanctuary. # Bekal Fort:

Bekal is renowned as the land of gods, forts, rivers, hills and beautiful beaches. Bekal is the mixture of beaches and backwaters and offers a unique cultural experience of the Malabar Region.

Bekal Fort is an ancient fort which is famous for its historical background. The fort was built almost 350 years ago. It is one of the largest and most preserved forts in Kerala. Bekal fort has a long history and it was built around 1650. If you will reach on the top of this fort then you can see the scenic beauty of Arabian Sea. Mainly the fort was constructed for defence purpose by Shivappa Nayaka of Badnore in the year 1650. The impressive keyhole-shaped structure of this fort attracts thousands of visitors.

# Cheruvathur:

Cheruvathur is famous for Kuttamath kunniyar family. The main attractions of this site are Veeramala Hills, scenic beauty, beautiful paintings, ancient inscription, ruins fort etc. This destination is also famous as an ideal picnic spot of Kerala. During the time of summer vacation, many people come here to celebrate picnic on this place.

# Ananthapura Lake temple:

The only lake temple in Kerala, Ananthapura Lake temple is located in a deserted area near the Kasargod town. The structure of this temple is made of rocks and it is situated in the middle of the lake. The temple is dedicated to Anantha Padmanabha Swami. The mural painting on the walls of the temple depicts the stories from the Puranas. Beside the temple, there is a cave that leads to a pond. Atop of the cave, there is a small temple, which is dedicated to Ganpati Bappa.

# Kareem’s Forest Park:

Kareem’s Forest Park is situated at a distance of 23 kilometres from kanhagad town. This site is packed with the plethora of medicinal plants, flora and fauna. This forest park is home to different species of animals, insects, reptiles, birds, wild animals, micro-organisms etc.

# Chandragiri Fort:

The Square shape ruins Chandragiri Fort is located on the southern bank of Chandragiri River. This ancient fort was built by Sivappa Nayak of Bednore in the 17th century. A beautiful bridge over the Chandragiri River and a beautiful mosque in this region attract tourist’s eyes. Nowadays, the tourism department of Kerala took all responsibilities to maintain this ruins fort.

# Nileshwar:

Nileshwar is also famous as a cultural centre of the Kasargod district. There are many shrines around Nileshwar and the most important among them is the Lord Shiva temple. According to the history, many people believed that the name Nileshwaram comes from one of the names of Nileshwar Raj, who was a king of the kolathiri family. This site’s name is highly related to the war between the Niledshwar kings and the Bednore Nayaks. On the other side, if we focused on mythology then we will see that many people believed that the name derives from Lord Shiva. The name denotes that Nileshwaram is a land of Lord Shiva.

# Madhur:

Madhur is famous for its religious importance. It is located at a distance of 8 kilometres from north-east of Kasaragod town. Srimad Anantheswara Vinayaka Temple is one of the main attraction of Madhur. This temple is popular for its beautiful architecture and comprises striking gables and turrets. Srimad Anantheswara is another name of Lord Shiva. The idol of Lord Shiva now been placed inside the temple. Mahashivratri is one of the popular festivals of this site.

This temple is also related to the mythology. According to the Ramayana, it is believed that the temple was once attacked by Tipu Sultan. But he changed his mind after quenching his thirst after drinking the water from the temple well and left the site undamaged. Visitors can notice a mark on the site which is believed to have come from Tipu Sultan’s sword.

# Valiyaparamba:

Valiyaparamba is a renowned fishing spot in Kerala. It is located near the Bekal town and it is an ideal picnic spot. Presently Valiyaparamba has been converted into a backwater resort, which is perfect for boating.

# Manjeshwar:

Manjeshwar is a popular religious centre of Kerala. This site has various numbers of mosque and temples. It is located in the northern region of Kerala. This pilgrim centre is also popular for the Rashtra Kavi Govinda Pai. This site is also related to the historical legend Manjula Kshethra Mahathmya.

Kumbala is a beautiful town, located at a distance of 12 kilometres from Kasaragod city centre. Temples of Lord Gopalkrishna is the main attraction of this place. Mainly visitors come here to see the scenic beauty of the ancient temple.

Anandashram and Nityanandasramam are two popular ashrams of Kerala. Both are an ideal place for meditation. Anandashram Ashram is located near Kanhangad Railway Station. # Ajanoor:

Ajanoor is a small village, located at a distance of 6 kilometres from Kanhangad. Madiyan Kulom temple is the main attraction of this place. The temple is dedicated to Lord Bhadrakali. During the month of May to June and December to January, a grand festival organized here and attracts a large number of devotees.

# Nellikunnu Mosque:

The month of November is the best time to visit in Nellikunnu Mosque. During this time a grand festival organized here, which is known as Nercha festival. Huge numbers of visitors from local and others place gather here to celebrate this festival.
