Balurghat:

Location: Dakshin Dinajpur

Balurghat is a town or a District headquarters of Dakshin Dinajpur (South Dinajpur). So many beautiful places are located in this city, Such as forest, museum, hill, temple etc. It is the birthplace of Manmatha Nath Ray Chowdhury. He is famous as an Author. Hili, Sarongbari, College museum, Bolla kali temple, Tapan dighi, Bangarh these all are beautiful places in Balurghat, Dakshin Dinajpur.

Hili:

Hili is located on the international border of India and Bangladesh. It is situated 25 kilometers from Balurghat city. Hili is divided into two parts one is situated in India and another one in Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, Hili border is known as Hili in Hakimpur Upazila. This site is a prime attraction for all tourist.

Sarongbari:

Sarongbari is protected area, if you want to visit this spot then you must be taken permission from the Block Office of Hili. Sarongbari has situated near Hili and just 20 km away from Balurghat. It is a small forest as well as famous as a picnic spot. There is a small hut built in the middle of the forest and provides drinking water for the tourists.

College museum:

College museum is situated in Balurghat college of Dakshin Dinajpur District. This Museum is famous as a preserver of antique collection. Many antique collections including coins, inscriptions, sculptures, terracotta, ornamental stone etc. This all antique products are present here from Pala and Sena Period.

Bolla kali temple:

Bolla kali temple is situated on Balurghat-Malda highway in Bolla village of Dakshin Dinajpur. It is just 20 km away from Balurghat. It is a holy temple of Mata Kali. There is an interesting story behind this temple.  Everybody said that once a Zamindar was arrested by the British for not paying his taxes when Mata kali had rescued him. Then the Zamindar Was built a temple of Mat kali in this village, this temple is known as ‘Bolla kali temple’. Kali Puja and Rash Purnima are the famous festivals of this village.

Tapan Dighi:

Tapan Dighi is a huge lake that is located at Tapan in Dakshin Dinajpur. It is situated 35 km from Balurghat.  The total length of this lake is 2 kilometers. Tapan Dighi was constructed by the king of West Bengal Laxmana Sen to dedicate his ancestors.  This place famous for its natural and science beauty. Various types of birds are present here. A dilapidated mound is located on the northern bank, which dates back to the time of Lord Buddha.

Bangarh:

Historically Bangarh is a very beautiful place of Dakshin Dinajpur (South Dinajpur). It is situated 45 km away from Balurghat Town and 65 km from Malda town. During Ancient time Bangarh was known as Devikote and it was the capital of the district Koti Barsha during Gupta period. Beautiful historical monuments are the important attraction of this place. Statue of Century, Four big pillars, Tomb of Bakhtiar Khilji, Usha Haran Road, Old Vishnu temple these all are main features of this historical place.

 Patiram Thakur Estate:

Patiram Thakur Estate is situated on Balurghat-Malda highway of Dinajpur District. The prime attraction of this place is old buildings, this building was built by the Tagore Family and it is bear the memories of Tagore family.

Khanpur:

Khanpur is located on Patiram-Trimohini Road, 18 kilometers away from Balurghat Town. This historical place is one of the prime attraction of History lovers. In the year 1946, history famous the “Tebhaga Movement” got originated here and many sharecroppers active in this movement. ‘Tebhaga Movement’ was raised by the Sharecroppers for establishing their crops’ increasing share at 75 percentage.

Raghunathpur Forest:

Raghunathpur Forest has situated just 1 km away from Balurghat. It is a small and beautiful forest. Various types of birds and beautiful nature has covered this forest.

Matash is beautiful and huge water body near Hili in Balurghat. This lake was made by the king of Dinajpur to provide drinking water to his family and subject. This lake is 150 years oldest and during that time it is famous as a picnic spot and it becomes a popular destination for the tourist.

Tomb of Bakhtiar Khilji:

Tomb of Bakhtiar khilji is located in Dakshin Dinajpur District. This place is a historical place and great destination for history lovers. There is a beautiful garden inside the tomb. Various types of flowers are found here.

Kal Dighi and Dhal Dighi:

Kal Dighi and Dhal Dighi these two water bodies were built by King Bana for his beautiful to wives. These two places are situated in Gangarampur Block of Dakshin Dinajpur (South Dinajpur) District. These two water bodies are different colors, Dhala Dhighi has white colored water and Kal Dighi has black water. There is a tomb of the Muslim Saint Atash Faki near the water bodies and various types of Birds like Water Hen, Bronzed Winged Jacana, and Grey Lag Goose are found here.
